5 best places to watch the sunset in Bergamo's Upper Town

Bergamo’s Upper Town is a place where time seems to stand still, an atmosphere steeped in history and beauty. But if there’s a moment when this ancient city transforms into a living work of art, it’s during sunset. In this article, we’ll guide you through the best places to witness Bergamo’s spectacular sunset.

1. Parco delle Rimembranze –> click here ot get there.

The Parco delle Rimembranze offers one of the most breathtaking panoramas of the city and the plain below. During sunset, the view becomes enchanting, with the sun painting the sky in warm hues and the city gradually lighting up. Be sure to arrive a bit early to enjoy the full show.

2. Piazza Vecchia –> click here ot get there.

This historic square is the beating heart of the Upper Town and is surrounded by historic buildings and cafes overlooking the square. During sunset, you can sit in one of the cafes, enjoy an aperitif, and admire the sun as it sets behind the ancient facades.

Climbing the Campanone Tower is a must-do experience. From the top of this bell tower, you can have a 360-degree view of the city. During sunset, when the sky is painted with shades of orange and pink, the view becomes simply magical.

The Castle of San Vigilio is another ideal viewpoint to watch the sunset. You can stroll along the medieval walls and find the best spot to enjoy the spectacle, but if you click here you can find my favorite spot. This place is particularly romantic at sunset.

5. Venetian walls of Bergamo –> click here ot get there.

The walls of Bergamo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, are a fantastic monument. When also combined with a beautiful sunset they become something unforgettable. I recommend walking along part of the walls starting from here until you reach Porta San Giacomo during sunset time.
